Medical Mission Group Metro Manila East Hospital and Health Services Cooperative
The Medical Mission Group Hospital and Health Services Cooperative was founded in 1991 in Davao City as the first health cooperative in the Philippines. The dismal health situation in the country prompted the founders to put up a health cooperative that is owned and operated by doctors, nurses, employees and the community.
In a cooperative health facility, the medical staff and employees have a voice on how to run the affairs of the business. They can nominate or run for directorship during the annual general assembly and exercise the democratic practice of one man, one vote. Patients as members or kamay-ari have a voice and may also participate in the affairs of the coop.
